Welcome to The Redpath Centre
Late in 2007, a small group of concerned clinicians gathered to discuss the lack of available services and supports for youth and adults with Asperger Syndrome in Ontario. In response to this need, we opened The Redpath Centre in January 2008 at shared office space with The Asperger Society of Ontario in mid-town Toronto.
Soon, we began to support like-minded clinicians by launching our Clinical Affiliate program, in several communities in Ontario. We began to see clients with conditions other than autism—including those living with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD), Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD), Learning Disabilities (LD), and Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD).
Similarly, our services have expanded to include counselling for couples, supports for late-diagnosed women and older individuals, assistance for youth and adults involved in the legal system, and psycho-educational groups. We have established a specialized team of experienced clinicians who benefit from clinical supervision and interdisciplinary peer support.
Lifespan care and leading edge diagnostic approaches, supports, and therapies are hallmarks of our approach. We believe that people should not have to transition to another care provider when they turn 18, and our clients range in age from two to 82. We have developed an approach that is unique in Canada, based in our clinical experience and the best evidence available.
Our involvement in collaboration and community activism is foundational to our growth as clinicians, as an origination, and as a community. We have undertaken research with agencies and universities and received over two million dollars in applied research finding. We are committed to advocating and collaborating with government to address the largely unmet needs of our clients. We strongly believe that funded and specialist mental health care should be accessible to all Canadians—including those with all neurodevelopmental conditions—across the lifespan.
We are excited to celebrate our tenth anniversary in 2018. Last year, we served over 1100 individuals living with neurodevelopmental conditions and their families in Ontario and BC. The needs of our community are immense. We will continue to expand our services and reach with the launch of The Redpath Foundation, new workshops, as well as e-counselling and coaching.
I am confident you will find caring and knowledgeable clinicians here.
