Welcome to The Redpath Centre
Late in 2007, a small group of concerned clinicians gathered to discuss the lack of available services and supports for youth and adults with Asperger Syndrome in Ontario. In response to this need, we opened The Redpath Centre in January 2008 at shared office space with The Asperger Society of Ontario at the corner of Eglinton and Redpath Avenue in mid-town Toronto.
Soon, we began to support like-minded clinicians by launching our Clinical Affiliate program in communities across Ontario. We started to see clients with conditions other than autism—including those living with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD), Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD), Learning Disabilities (LD), and Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD). Our services expanded to include counselling for couples, supports for late-diagnosed women and older individuals, assistance for youth and adults involved in the legal system, and psycho-educational groups. We have established a diverse team of experienced clinicians who benefit from clinical supervision and interdisciplinary peer support.
Lifespan care and leading edge diagnostic approaches, supports, and therapies are hallmarks of our approach. We believe that people should not have to transition to another care provider when they turn 18, and our clients range in age from two to 82. We have developed an approach that is unique in Canada, based in our clinical experience and the best evidence available. Our involvement in collaboration and community activism is foundational to our growth as clinicians, as an origination, and as a community. We have undertaken research with agencies and universities and received over two million dollars in applied research funding. We are committed to advocating and collaborating with government to address the largely unmet needs of our clients. We strongly believe that funded and specialist mental health care should be accessible to all Canadians—including those with all neurodevelopmental conditions—across the lifespan.
In 2019, we served over 1300 individuals and their families in Ontario and British Columbia. We will continue to expand our services and reach with the launch of The Redpath Foundation, new workshops, as well as e-counselling and coaching. We welcome partnerships and feedback about our services as we grow as an organization and continue to provide leadership in meeting the mental health needs of our neurodiverse community.
I am confident you will find caring and knowledgeable clinicians here.
